Lefnoll

Lefnoll on Loch Ryan is a low water mark primarily producing Dogfish. A very shallow mark can provide hectic action into darkness. Clean ground means you can get away with 15lb main line to help with the distance if needed. though the fish can often be found patrolling the gutter 20 yards out. Standard dogfish rigs for here 3 hook flappers or 3 hook clipped are the norm but have some single hook clips in your bag in case the fish are scarce and at distance. The standard baits are Sandeel and Ragworm cocktails but ragworm on its own often works. Mackerel, Squid, Lug and Crab are also useful.

Other marks in this area are Old House Point which can also produce big bags of Whiting on cold frosty nights and the odd Thornie. Finnarts Bay is further up the Loch and has been known to produce Bull Huss. The ground here is a bit rougher. Cockle shore for Bass over high in the Summer on Lugworm and the Breakers pier area for Conger Eel.

Please be aware of the large wash generated by the high speed ferries. This can be dangerous.
